About Us

Our company, The India Fruits Private Limited, was incorporated on 24th September, 1937 at Madras in the then British India. The company originally operated two factories for the canning of fruits and vegetables, jams, tomato ketchup, etc., at Kadiyam and Peshawar, now in Pakistan. Thereafter in the year 1959-60, after obtaining industrial licence from the Government of India, the company set up a plant at Kadiyam for the manufacture initially of distribution conductors, namely ACSR and AAC. Subsequently, the manufacture of ACSR Conductors for transmission lines was also taken up. In the year 1976, again after having obtained an industrial licence from the Government of India, the company set up a department in its factory for the production of e.c. grade aluminium wire rod by the melting of ingots and continuous casting and rolling process thereafter.

The company has manufactured thousands of kilometers of transmission line conductors ranging from those covered by IS:398 Parts-2 and V from ACSR Panther Conductor to ACSR Moose Conductor which are in use all over the Country. The company was a major supplier of ACSR Moose Conductor of 400 kV rating to NTPC and has also supplied ACSR Snowbird Conductor to POWERGRID. Transmission line conductor covered by other Specifications such as ACSR Kundah, Drake, Lynx, Coyote, etc., have also been manufactured in substantial quantities. The company has also executed a number of deemed export orders. The company, after obtaining necessary clearances, set up a second unit in 2001 in the SIPCOT Industrial Estate at Gummidipoondi, Timvallur District of Tamil Nadu in which initially ACSR Conductors for both distribution and transmission including ACSR Moose Conductor were manufactured. This unit has been mainly catering to the demand of the TNEB and its successors.

The company installed plant and equipment for the manufacture of All Aluminium Alloy Conductors (AAAC) in the year 2003 at its Kadiyam unit and subsequently at its Gummidipoondi unit. The company has been very successful in manufacturing AAAC of very good quality having properties well above the requirements of IS:398 (Part-4) 1994. This is due to the sophistication of the heat treatment equipment both for solution heat treatment and ageing heat treatment.
